Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

When I go outside in the afternoon, I get severe pain in the right side of my head, which pains the whole day. I have had this problem for the last two months, and this is occurring for the third time. In addition, I suffered from flu, and I got treated by three different doctors with different antibiotics. So it was not for the same issue, but I am sharing my history of the last two months for your information.

1. I suffered from dengue eight months ago.

2. I had a viral fever in the last two months, so the doctor prescribed me antibiotics along with swine flu treatment.

3. The upper body, especially my head and neck, feels like there is an increased temperature, but when checked with a thermometer, it is normal. But I generally think that my body temperature is high. So I have taken a Paracetamol tablet for this.

Kindly suggest a solution for this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Getting headaches in the afternoon has many reasons. They are,

1. Sleeping less at night.

2. Consuming spicy food in the afternoon.

3. Work-related stress.

4. Sensitivity to heat.

5. Migraine.

6. Refractive error, which is an eye disorder.

I suggest you to visit an optometrist nearby and get your eye power checked. If a power issue in the eyes is detected, wearing spectacles will reduce the symptoms. If not, you can wear coolers or a cap while going out. Also, taking antibiotics will not cause headache after a long time. So do not worry about it.

However, I have a few questions,

1. Do you sleep well?

2. Are you stressed a lot?

3. Do you feel giddy while having headaches?

4. Do you have a vomiting sensation associated with the headache?

Kindly follow up with the answers.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Here are my answers to your questions.

1. I sleep five to six hours a day.

2. Yes, I am stressed a lot.

3. No, I do not feel giddy.

4. No, I do not have a vomiting sensation.

5. And, my eye power is good. No issues with my eye.

However, this problem started in the last two months when I travel in the afternoon. And as soon as I enter the house, it starts paining. So what could be the reason?

Kindly suggest.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Try increasing your sleeping hours to seven hours daily, which will help reduce the symptoms.

If more sleep, yoga, exercises, and wearing a cap or coolers do not reduce your symptoms within two months, getting a CT (computed tomography) scan brain may help diagnose the condition.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
