What could be the reason for chronic severe headaches and a feverish feeling when exposed to a strong smell?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male with a height of 5.9 to 5.10 feet and a weight of around 66 to 67 kg. I neither smoke nor drink. For the past many years (more than five years ), I have been having severe headaches (throbbing aches around the eyes, back of the head, and forehead). I feel feverish whenever I am exposed to anything with a strong smell which includes perfumes, insect repellents, and other gaseous stuff. I feel fatigued, with body aches, and extremely tired easily, coupled with an extreme headache and fever-like symptoms, whenever I go outside or work. The condition seems to get worse if am in the sun. I also have either a blocked or runny nose all the time and difficulty breathing and sometimes shortness of breath. At the same time that all these symptoms started, I also have been getting frequently sick which was not the case. The skin of my hands and feet peels off twice yearly and I have dry and cracked lips most of the time. I experience involuntary and momentary shaking of my body sometimes, when that happens I can feel my head and upper parts of my body shaking for a moment or so. I also used to have shortness of breath while urinating to the point that I almost fainted (I have fainted thrice in the past years because of it). Do I have a sinus infection or other medical problems as well?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the problem in detail. You seem to have these issues:

  1. Vascular headache.
  2. Environmental triggers cause nasal congestion.
  3. Vaso vagal syncope.
  4. Mild anxiety.

You need a detailed evaluation for the same. Please take some analgesics for headaches. Avoid precipitating factors like sunlight and strong smell exposure. Also, I do not think you have a sinus infection. Please get investigated for CBC (complete blood count) and vitamin D levels and inform me. Yoga and pranayama will work in mitigating your problem.

I hope I answered your queries. Please feel free to revert for further queries.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

I just got my full body checkup report. Please review, analyze, and suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your HDL (high-density lipoprotein) level and vitamin D levels are low, otherwise, everything else is fine.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
