Why am I experiencing continuous heavy menstrual blood flow?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old female with a height of 4.9 feet and a weight of 67 kg. I am experiencing heavy menstrual blood flow continuously. Blood clots are there and I am having stomach pain.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The cause of heavy bleeding may be fibroid in the uterus or abnormal hormonal balance. This may also be due to hyperthyroidism. Please get a complete blood count and thyroid profile done. Apart from this, you can also get an ultrasound of your lower abdomen done for fibroid.

Please take the following medicines:

1.Tablet Trenaxa MF (Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid) twice a day for the next three days.

2. Capsule Fefol-Z (Carbonyl iron, Zinc sulphate monohydrate and Folic acid) once a day for seven days.

3.Tablet Folvite (Folic acid) 5 mg twice a day for the next seven days.

Please revert back with the reports.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have got my thyroid profile test done. The values are as follows:

T3 - 1.8 nmol/l.

T4 - 92.96 nmol/l.

TSH - 4.48 mU/l.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

Your thyroid values are normal. You have not mentioned about your health and more importantly the complete blood count. Please revert back with the query.
