Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 16 years old, and I will turn 17 in four months. I am attaching a copy of my wrist x-rays below. Could you tell me if my growth plates are closed or open?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hope you are doing well. By the looks of your wrist x-ray (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), your growth plates are almost over, and the minimal residual growth left will also be over in one to two months. Any growth modulating procedure you are thinking of will not be helping you at the current juncture. Do reach out for further information or clarifications. Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. How much do you think I can grow currently? I am 5' 7" from what I measured in June 2021. I uploaded pictures from different angles of the growth plates. How much can I grow at this stage? How much growth (in cms) can I expect to grow?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

With the images of your growth plates sent, you are almost on the verge of growth completion. An approximate 3 to 5 cm of growth can be expected in about 2 to 3 months duration. However, these are just an estimate based on the radiographic findings. The genetic potential can take it beyond that, and there is no such technology to tell where the growth has ceased completely accurately. Based on the studies and findings, you have less than 5 % of growth remaining. Do reach out for further information or clarifications. Regards.
