Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old, and my weight is 238 lbs. I take fiber supplements, but my stools seem to be flat. I know I have hemorrhoids, but I am concerned about cancers.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen all your attached files (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). Your stool corresponds to Bristol stool chart type three, which is seen in patients with constipation. There is no evidence of blood streaking in the stool sample. This type of stool is not due to cancers so, please do not worry. It would be best if you continue taking fiber and plenty of fluids (approximately two liters of water daily). Your stool consistency should improve with increased fluid and fiber.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I typically drink minimum three liters of water and take eight grams of fiber daily. Do they appear flat in your professional opinion?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The stool does not appear flat, and your water intake is optimum, but I suggest increasing your fiber content. You should increase it to sixteen grams per day. In addition, you should avoid taking processed carbohydrates in your diets, such as processed wheat flour which is used in bakery products such as bread and buns. You should include whole cereals and green leafy vegetables, cucumber in your diet.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
