Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I recently went for a checkup for hepatitis B. I did this because I had unprotected sex with someone about three months back. I never had any test before. The results came up positive. I have done further tests to see if the infection is chronic or acute.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

First of all, I need to know that have you got HbsAg test done?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I have done that and the result was reactive.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

That simply means that you have acute viral hepatitis. You need treatment for that as your viral load is high. No further tests are warranted. The treatment would compose of antiviral drugs. You may need treatment for up to one year depending upon viral load reduction with the medicines. I personally recommend Tenofovir for the purpose. You should see a Gastroenterologist and share my opinion with him. You can always discuss with me the treatment directed by him.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
