Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a blood chemistry result. Can you give me interpretation? Also explain what is the next step? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I had gone through all your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Most of the reports are normal like, complete blood picture, FBS - fasting blood sugar and urine routine. Some of them needs attention, so I am commenting on them. In lipid profile LDL - low density lipoprotein is 120 mg/dL. It is normal for your age, but you need lifestyle modifications like avoiding oil foods, bakery items, alcohol and smoking if you have. Do physical exercise daily for half an hour to one hour. These measures will help you to decrease LDL and increase HDL (high density lipoprotein) cholesterol. HbsAg (hepatitis surface antigen) is reactive, which indicates that you have Hepatitis B. It is a viral infection transmitted most commonly by sexual route and blood. Kindly redo the test for confirmation. If repeat test is positive you need to undergo another three tests to determine whether you need treatment for that. Other three tests are HBV DNA viral load quantitative, HBeAg- hep B envolope antigen and liver function test. Kindly get back to me with these reports then we can decide further line of management. If repeat test is positive your family members needs to be tested for Hepatitis B and if they are negative they needs to be vaccinated to prevent infection. The chance of spread from you to other person depends on viral load.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
