Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a newly graduated dentist. I did an extraction for a patient using one pair of gloves and respirator with mask in the absence of my senior. Later, I came to know that the patient has an history of acute hepatitis. Should I be concerned? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The chance of parenteral spread is almost nil since you have taken preventive measures.

Follow the below steps;

1. I suggest 1 ml booster dose if you are vaccinated for hepatitis B during childhood.

2. If not, I suggest two doses of 10 mcg/ml hepatitis B vaccine at a month apart, repeat it after six months.

3. If there are any symptoms of hepatitis, I suggest tablet Tenofovir Alafenamide 25 mg and tablet Emtricitabine 200 mg once daily for two weeks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
