Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can I transmit herpes to my son in the bath or shower if I have a pimple near my vagina?

I have genital herpes and currently have something that looks like a herpes pimple near my vagina. I am worried that if my 2-year-old son were accidentally touched while we were in the bath or shower. So that I may transmit herpes to him.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.

No, you cannot transfer herpes virus infection to your baby, during bathing because herpes virus infection can not transmit in water.

It can only be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact with the infected area during vaginal sex, oral sex, anal sex, and during kissing.

I hope you found it useful, feel free to ask for more information.

Good luck.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply,

But he sat on my lap for a moment and his skin touched the pimple for a couple of seconds. Can it get transmitted?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Is he having skin cut or disease skin in that area because that may cause transmission of herpes but with healthy, intact skin there is no transmission of herpes virus infection?

I hope you found it useful.

Regards.
