Q. Can a tooth filling cause fluctuating blood pressure?
I had a back tooth filled about a month ago. At the time, I was told that the cavity was too close to the bone and nerve and it had to be filled with standard fillings. He used a different type of filling. Five days later, I began to experience tingling sensations in my feet and numbness around my mouth. My blood pressure began to fluctuate wildly. Blood pressure sometimes goes from 85/52 mmHg to 211/99 mmHg in a day. I have no stress or anxiety in my life. Nothing has stopped the fluctuating blood pressure despite EKGs, CAT scans, MRIs, laboratory tests, and blood pressure medications. Currently I am taking the tablet Norvasc. Is it possible that it is due the tooth problem? Please advice.
There is no history of such a finding where blood pressure may vary after a tooth filling. As a result, it is highly unlikely that it is the primary cause of your medical condition. Still, if you experience numbness or tingling near that tooth, you should seek treatment, such as root canal therapy or extraction.
I hope this will help you out.
Thank you.
