I read your query and can understand your concern. In such a scenario, I prefer to start my patient on a single drug for the next ten days. After that, based on the response obtained, we modify the dosage or advice insulin. I suppose in your case, oral medicines would be sufficient. I suggest you start with the tablet Istamet 50mg/500mg (Sitagliptin + Metformin) twice daily before breakfast and dinner. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. You should follow a diabetic diet and do regular exercises. Check your blood sugar daily at home using a glucometer- fasting blood sugar, then two hours after taking medicine and breakfast. Write back to me after ten days with a blood sugar chart. The doctor advised me to take Metformin 500 mg twice daily in the morning and at night after breakfast and dinner. Moreover, I have been advised to consume Gliclazide 60 mg once daily in the afternoon before lunch. Further, the doctor has also advised me to take insulin 20 units once before dinner. Sir, I want to know whether the dosage of the medicines referred by the doctor is good enough to contain the effect of diabetes on my body. Thank you.
