Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My blood sugar levels are high. According to the reports, my fasting blood sugar is 378 mg/dL, and my HbA1c is 13.2 %. I also feel slightly tired, and I have lost around 22 pounds of weight within three to four months. I have attached a copy of the reports below. Please let me know what I can do about this?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Looking at your symptoms and lab reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), it is a clear diagnosis of diabetes. I am not sure if you already have diabetes. This requires immediate treatment, preferably with Insulin for initial two to three months, as HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) is above 13 %. We expect it to be around 6.5 % for your age, which denotes reasonable control. However, the priority now is to bring HbA1c below 10 % with insulin and then switch to oral drugs for further management. Usually, oral medications are of no help when sugar levels are as high as yours. Unfortunately, due to medical guidelines, I cannot prescribe Insulin over this platform. Kindly visit your diabetologist at the earliest for starting the treatment. Hope this helps. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
