Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother has diabetes and hypertension which are in control. I have attached her routine blood test reports that show high RBC count and liver parameters. Sometimes, she also complains of a burning sensation in her feet. Please examine my mother's test reports.

Kindly guide.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have examined the reports (attachments removed to protect patient's identity). The reports are good. The only concern is low vitamin D and iron, common in aged women.

I suggest you follow the below treatment:

  • Vitamin D 60000 IU (international units) once a week for eight weeks.
  • Tablet Haem up gems (Copper sulphate 2.5 mg, Ferrous fumarate 200 mg, Folic acid 1.5 mg, and Manganese sulphate 2.5 mg) once a day for one month.

Also, continue using the diabetes medicines.

There is nothing to worry about. Kindly revert in case of further questions.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

How about the elevated uric acid and liver parameters? Are there any dietary changes that are recommended?

Kindly advise.

Answered by Dr. Prathap

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Slightly raised uric acid levels with no symptoms need not be worried about. However, symptoms like joint pains, swelling, or renal stones should be treated. I suggest limiting the use of high protein diets. Also, liver function tests are normal. However, they are concerning when they raise more than three to five folds.

Kindly let me know in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
