Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

On the 8th, I felt someone prick me with a needle. Later, I was confused whether it was a needle or his nails. I am so worried from that time, that I may have HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection due to this. I have done rapid antibody test on the 60th day and it was negative. Next, I went for CMI (Chemiluminescence) duo (Ag/Ab) test on the 78th day and it was nonreactive. Then, I had some symptoms. So, I was more worried and again on the 92nd day, I went for CMI duo (Ag/Ab) test and it was nonreactive. Please suggest if any further test is required as I am confused.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com.

An HIV screening test is considered conclusive at 12 weeks from a possible exposure. So, if your test is negative at 92 days after a risky exposure, it is conclusive. Regards.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Does it mean I do not need to go for further testing? Another thing I would like to share with you is that my mind always thinks about this. How can I overcome this situation? The symptom I have is an infection on the penis. I went to a skin specialist for the same, and the doctor told me it is a fungal infection. I also have excessive sweating at night, body pain, and weight loss (3.3 lbs). Please suggest.

Hi, Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no need for further HIV testing. Your test is conclusive. I request you to kindly upload a few images of the infection on your penis. Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Please find the image as you asked to send. If it is clear to you then fine, if not, I can send it again. Please suggest if any test is required to clear my doubts.

Hello, Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is simple dryness of the penile. Not any infection. I suggest you use Cetaphil moisturizing cream, twice daily for a week. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am using an antifungalcream from one week, but there is not much cure. Even I had Flucanazole one tablet six days back, but the problem still persists. I want to ask you again, is there any chance of getting the infection after 92 days?

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hi, Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Which antifungal cream are you using? I suggest you to apply Eumosone (Clobetasone Topical) cream or Desowen (Desonide) cream, twice daily. Your test is conclusive. There is no chance that you could have HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. Your test has reliably ruled out this possibility. Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
