Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) test after three weeks of my sex. But it was negative with index no. 2, and I have all the symptoms. What to do? Please help.

Hi, Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. It is good that the HIV antibodies test after three weeks is negative but is not conclusive. Symptoms are non-specific and need not be due to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). I suggest you can consult your doctor for examination and management of your symptoms. You can go for HIV 1 and 2 RNA PCR (ribonucleic acid polymerase chain reaction) and HIV antibodies test after three months of exposure.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your reply. This time also, I have done HIV 1 and 2 and p24 antigen combo test. Today my symptoms are mild fever, loose motions, mouth ulcer body pain. How much chances are there for HIV positive after three months, as I tested negative after three weeks. Please help.

Hi, Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Symptoms are non-specific and can be due to any infection. You can consult your doctor for examination and management. It is good that the HIV test is negative after three weeks. But it is not conclusive at this stage. The chances of HIV tests coming positive later are low. It is not clear about the risk exposure history. Anyway, the HIV antibodies test is conclusive after three months of exposure.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
