Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What is the risk of transmission of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) if an uncircumcised penis touched the toilet seat, which had some brown dried substance on it? I have no history of other STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases).

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The chances of transmission of HIV by the given description are nil.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I read online that for men, the urethra is the part from where transmission occurs, so I got very concerned as the urethra or the tip of my penis touched the black substance on the toilet seat.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are no reports of HIV getting transmitted by these routes. Moreover, HIV does not survive in the environment for long. So the chances of transmission of HIV by this mode are nil.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reassurance.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I wish you safe and sound health.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How long does HIV survive in the environment? I am trying to do the math, and a person probably used the restroom 15 to 20 minutes before me. The black substance was under the toilet seat and not at the top, as I always clean the seat before sitting. My penis was only touched when I was wiping it clean.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

HIV usually does not survive in the environment beyond a few minutes. Black substance need not be due to blood or infective material. Moreover, such modes of transmission are not reported. Do not worry.
