Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Do I need post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) after the following exposures: Open mouth or french kissing. Handjob and hand masturbation. Have there been known cases of HIV transmission after such exposures?

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have noted your concern. There is no risk of HIV transmission from the open mouth or deep kissing or skin to skin contact as in a handjob. They do not qualify as a risk for HIV transmission. Hence there is no need for post-exposure prophylaxis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I also forgot to mention that I fingered her clitoral area. What is the risk from this exposure?

Answered by Dr. Sushil Kakkar

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Fingering carries no risk. The virus cannot pass through the skin.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
