Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

If my cardiologist suggested a Holter test and a stress test on a treadmill for me and the results are non-significant, does it mean most likely my arteries are not blocked? Why did my doctor not order a test to check my arteries? I feel easily breathless, and I feel dizzy every day. I had a brain and cervical spine MRI done, consulted an ENT specialist for the dizziness, and cleared all tests with no diagnosis. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. There are three things in these tests either positive or negative or non-diagnostic. Positive and negative are self-explanatory but non-diagnostic means that you have to be tested further to reach a diagnosis. Non-diagnostic is common in exercise ECG (electrocardiogram) tests. If it is negative, then no need to worry as your symptoms are not due to heart disease. Moreover, exercise ECG is done for prognosis rather than diagnosis. So, a complete report needs to be read to make a final impression. Holter monitoring is done for palpitations, dizziness, missed beats, slow heart rate, syncope, and episodic chest pain.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
