Can a home-pregnancy kit result be a false positive for a person who had sex on a safe day and got periods two days later?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Can I believe the results from the home pregnancy test kits? My boyfriend penetrated me one month back, and I got my period two days later. I got it as expected. As I knew that the day we had sex fell under safe period, I did not have I-pill as I was expecting my period, and I also got it. But lately, I have had nausea. Still, three days are left now for my next period, and I tested with a kit, but to my astonishment, it is showing two lines.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you get a urine pregnancy test done from a laboratory because if you read the test after 10 to 15 minutes, it may give a positive result. As you got your menses, the chance of pregnancy seems very less. The timing seems to be the safe period. Feel free to ask any other queries.
