Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had sex 45 days back, and my last period was eight days before intercourse. I took I-pill within 48 hours. I got periods within 10 days after I had sex which was too early. Now it has been 35 days. Is there any chance of getting pregnant even after getting periods in the last month?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. Thanks for your query on this platform. No, there is no chance of pregnancy, as you did not have sex after your last period. Your last period was actually breakthrough bleeding that occurred due to hormonal imbalance, which is a very common side effect of emergency contraceptive pills. These pills can cause a delay in the periods as a side effect. Periods can get delayed up to 10 days from the due date because of hormonal imbalance. So I would suggest you wait for five to six days and see if periods happen; otherwise, you need to consult a gynecologist and get prescribed supplements for regular periods. Meanwhile, there is no harm in having a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy which is highly unlikely in this scenario and clears your doubt.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
