Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My height is 6 feet 1 inch, and weight is 209 lbs. My TSH level is 16 and T3, T4 levels are normal. I want to lose weight. Please tell me how much carbohydrates and protein I need to take. I just started exercise couple of days ago. Can I take whey protein?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query and from what you have mentioned, it appears that you have hypothyroidism, dyslipidemia and raised liver enzymes. Firstly, you must take tablet Thyronorm (Levothyroxine sodium) 75 mcg once daily early morning on waking up and then avoid eating anything for the next one hour. Repeat your thyroid function test after three months and then we will review again. Regarding your cholesterol levels, you must take tablet Simvastatin 20 mg at bedtime. Repeat your lipid profile after six months and then we will review again. You must multiply your weight by 0.36 for the recommended daily amount of protein (in grams) that you should be consuming. Then double that number. It turns out 2.4 ounces per day protein and 2.3 to 3.5 ounces of carbohydrates per day intake as per your weight. Avoid whey protein as a source of your protein diet and include natural protein like eggs, pulses, lean meat like fish and chicken.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
