Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Irregular pap smear result shows LSIL was highlighted on my document from the gynecologist, but I was told I did not have HPV or cervical cancer, but weird-shaped cells on the cervix. I was told not to worry.

Could this develop into HPV?

What can I do to prevent that from happening?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The cervix has one area known as the transformational zone that shows natural changes in different phases of life.

Cervical cancer is commonly diagnosed in the reproductive phase and during pregnancy.

Please send me your cervical smear report and your detailed gynecology, medical, surgical, and drug history.

Very early changes need to be reevaluated. The special screening program is there for the reproductive age to repeat the smear every three years if no changes or pathology is seen in the previous smear.

Multiple sexual partners, sex at a very early age, and human papillomavirus infection are all causes of cervical changes. And leads to cervical cancer, so try to avoid these risks.

Maintain strict hygiene. Try to use condoms while having sex to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. Regular cervical screening as advised. Try to have a single-sex partner. Check and pay attention to abnormal symptoms like unscheduled spotting, local pain, or bleeding.

Thank you.
