Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 18-year-old and after intercourse, I took an I-pill. I am suffering from vaginal burning and I am feeling the cramps that come before my periods. Is there any chance of getting pregnant? Kindly help me to get away from it safely.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you had taken pills then it is going to be withdrawal bleeding and you mostly get pain before this bleeding and your periods can be delayed. As far as pregnancy is concerned yes there is some chance because I-pill is not 100 % effective. If you miss your period then do a urine pregnancy test and if it is negative then it is delayed and if positive then you are pregnant. Vaginal burning may be due to some infection or a UTI. Drink lots of water. Keep the vaginal area as dry as possible. If not getting well then get a consultation done and it may require antibiotics. And it is very early to indulge in sex life. Do concentrate on studying and keep away from sex.

Thank you.
