Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took I-pill just a day before I was due for my periods. Unfortunately, they have not started as expected. Can you advise me if I will have periods?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help. As I-pill is a hormone-based pill, it is known to delay periods. Therefore, you can expect a delay of 10 to 15 days in your periods. Do you have a history of irregular or delayed periods? Also, as you took I-pill just a day before your expected period, and if you have a regular period and ovulation, then most likely your ovulation would have been over by then, and the possibility of pregnancy is rare. Furthermore, you have taken an emergency contraceptive pill, so your chances of pregnancy are very low. Please do not worry.

I hope this helps.

Feel free to ask any questions or share any additional information.

Kindly revert with the answers to the above questions so that I can help you better.

God bless.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the response.

I do not have a history of irregular or delayed periods. I have a healthy 28-day cycle. However, I am worried if the I-pill can have any long-term side effects.

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is nothing to worry about if you have regular cycles. There are no long-term side effects of the pill, and there will be no effect on your future pregnancy.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
