This pregnancy test is for your last unprotected intercourse, so you can take the test right now. Otherwise, pregnancy test ideally should be done at least three weeks from the last intercourse. If you are not sure of your last act then yes, you have no other options. Side effects of i-pill are lesser than being pregnant and to prevent pregnancy this is the best drug. Spotting, withdrawal bleeding, early or delayed period are common side effects of repeated dose of i-pill. Otherwise no major side effect or long term effect of i-pill on health. So if in doubt take i-pill. It is the best available option for you.

I-pill has to be taken at earliest within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. So within 24 hours, it is fine. You have to wait for your period and in-between keep on testing pregnancy by urine pregnancy kit weekly. If the test is negative you have to wait for your natural onset of period.
