Should I be concerned, despite taking two I-pills in 8 and 12-hour intervals, if the condom is torn during sex?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am unmarried. I had my periods on the 9th and 17th of this month late at night. I had sex with my boyfriend. The condom was totally torn, and within 8 hours, I had I-pill, and again after 12 hours, I had a second I-pill as I was tensed. No bleeding to date. Do I need to worry? Can you suggest some tablets so I can have periods earlier, just for the safer side?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the details presented by you, and I fully understand your concern.

Firstly, to get pregnant, the sperm must be released inside the vagina of the female. These sperm will then need to fertilize an egg which may or may not be available depending on the ovulation pattern of the female. Further, the fertilized egg should then be implanted inside the uterus of the female. When all this happens successfully, a female is said to have conceived.

In your case, since the condom was torn so, we will assume it to be ejaculation inside. Further, since it was nine days post your period so ovulation should not have happened so early but good that you took an emergency contraceptive pill. But here, you were not required to take two pills at such short time intervals as one pill is enough. Further, these pills are hormone-based, and they interfere with the period pattern of females. As far as bleeding post-pill dose is concerned, every female responds differently to these medicines, so there is no need to worry if you have not bled so far. My suggestion to you is that you live your daily routine and do not take the stress of pregnancy. I will not suggest any medicines at this stage when you have already taken two I-pills (Levonorgestrel IP). Just continue with your routine.

Hope this helps.

Further, if there is any query, please ask.

Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

On the 13th, I started bleeding, and on the 3rd day and 4th day, there was no bleeding. Do I still need to worry?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Firstly, apologies for the delayed response, as I had a very busy day. It is great to hear from you that you had bleeding. No issues if it did not last on the 3rd and 4th day. It is primarily due to excessive hormone dosage in the form of two pills which you took that your period flow and duration are slightly off track. It will be fine from the next cycle onwards. As far as pregnancy is concerned, as discussed earlier, there is no possibility of pregnancy with two pills. So, please do not worry and follow your routine, and stay happy. Feel free to ask any questions or share any additional information.

You can always come back and reach me at icliniq.com.

Thank you for consulting me.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you so much for your response.

Suddenly, since yesterday, I have been experiencing a sensation in my urinary tract, mostly in the lower part. It is a different kind of feeling that I cannot explain exactly. Also, I am feeling uneasy and have had a severe headache for the past two days. Thanks a lot for your valuable time and support.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do not worry; it should get better. If there is any itching around the vagina, any burning sensation while urinating, or any unusual discharge with or without odor, let me know. Furthermore, my recommendations are to wear loose cotton underwear, do not clean the vagina towards the inside, use gentle soap or wash to clean the area, and keep the area dry.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at icliniq.

Thank you.
