Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex last week and took an I-pill within 24 hours. Again after a week, the condom broke. Do I need to take the pill again? Is it safe? If not, please suggest an alternative.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Send me a detailed history. Actually, if you have taken the pill at a proper dose with proper timings without any vomiting, then there is no need for another one as ovulation has already stopped for this cycle. In case you still have not had any bleeding. But if you doubt the above-mentioned factors, you can have another episode, but withdrawal bleeding should occur in the next two weeks. Your periods will be disturbed as the pill interferes with the normal cycle and inhibits ovulation, fertilization, and conception. And at the end, gives withdrawal bleed as well. So the body's physiology determines how long it will take to get rid of the externally induced hormone.

I hope you get my point.

Best of luck.
