Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am trying to hydrate my skin and to get rid of small bumps present on my skin. I wonder when I use micellar water for makeup removal, toner, and astringent pads.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Both toners and astringents are used to remove makeup and cleanser residue that is left on the skin after washing the face. Both are water-based products. But there are some differences between these two products. Toners contain glycerin and other humectants. They help to hydrate the skin and your skin feels softer after using it. On the other hand, astringents are formulated to remove excess oil from your skin. It is like a stronger form of toner. So if you have oily skin, you can go for it. But do not use them simultaneously. All the three products that you have mentioned do the same work at different levels of strength. It may cause drying of the skin. You can use astringent in the morning and toner at night (if you have oily skin). If you want to hydrate your skin, you can use a hydrating serum after using a toner.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
