Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I use to sleep for 13 to 14 hours a day. Even after that, I still feel tired. I feel irritable for the whole day. Can I have any health issues? I have this issue for 20 days. Sometimes I have a fever.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There are various reasons for oversleeping. You are following the same sleep routine for more than a week and so your body has got adapted to the habit. Normally, we feel tired after waking up. It does not matter if you sleep for 8 hours or 14 hours. It is our thoughts that make to think that sleeping for more than 8 hours will not cause tiredness. Our body gets adopted to this pattern and so it always wants to relax. To overcome this, you need to wake up after 8 hours of sleep every day. You can experience headaches or tiredness for few days as you are not sleeping for more than 8 hours. But after a week, everything will become fine. After waking up, you can do some exercise and drink coffee. It helps to boost you. The other causes can be anemia or infection. To rule out the cause, you need to do CBC (complete blood count). Kindly send your reports in your follow-up. Medicines can be prescribed accordingly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
