Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was suffering from stomach pain (likely caused by overeating) and light constipation a few days ago, which seemed to last for a few days, prompting me to take other actions. To relieve my constipation, I decided to take a chocolate laxative. However, I unintentionally took far more than I intended. I took 9 of the recommended dose of 1 to 2 pieces (each containing 15 mg of Sennosides USP). It has also come to my attention that the laxatives expired a few days ago. I had a short diarrheic episode after taking them, but it has subsided.

I am experiencing cramps and a burning pain that comes and goes. I am not experiencing any other symptoms. I have been drinking as much water as I possibly can. I have only had one or two bowel movements, but that could be because I have not eaten much. I wonder if my cramps or pains will disappear or if I should visit an emergency room.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Acidity and gastritis are most likely to blame. However, do you also have upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, increased pain with eating, a sour taste in your throat, or chest burning? These are other symptoms that may be present. You should avoid eating fatty, oily, and spicy foods. Instead of resting after eating, go for a walk. Instead of large meals, eat several small ones. Maintain a regular sleep schedule and avoid stress. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. Instead, consume a lot of fruits and green leafy vegetables. I suggest taking tablet Pan DSR (Domperidone and Pantoprazole) 40 mg before breakfast for two weeks. If not adequately relieved, you should take syrup Sucral-O (Sucralfate and Oxetacaine) or syrup Gelusil (Aluminium Hydroxide, Dimethicone, and Magnesium Hydroxide) two teaspoons three times a day for a week. In addition, you can have antispasmodic medications like tablet Dicyclomine (Bentyl) 20 mg or tablet Hyoscine (Isopto Hyoscine) 10 mg whenever needed up to three times a day for immediate pain relief.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
