Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 32-year-old female. I have some patches on my nipples. It seems to be a fungal infection. I have itching sometimes. I have tried using ointment several times. I have used Dettol and hot water a few years back to reduce itching. After that, I vigorously scrubbed it. It can be the cause of my further aggravation.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Do not apply Dettol as it can cause dermatitis. You can have patches on the skin due to fungal infection or it can be nipple dermatitis. Kindly attach an image to examine the rash and treatment has to be taken accordingly.

Patient's Query

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attached image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It seems to be nipple eczema. It is a kind of allergy. It can occur due to an irritant like deodorant, perfumes, or any lotion. You can use Hydrocortisone 1% cream daily at night in small quantities for ten days. Use Aveeno moisturizer two to three times daily on the patch for a month. You can take tablet Fexofenadine 180 mg daily at night for five days. Avoid using perfumes and deodorants directly on the skin. You can use it on clothes. You can use Dove or any other mild soap for bathing.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
