Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been diagnosed with a right inguinal hernia. It is 0.9 inch with a protrusion on the omental contents for the past two weeks. I have consulted a doctor, who advised surgery. Is this possible to cure without surgery? How long will it take to heal? What should I do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query

An inguinal hernia occurs as a result of a weak abdominal wall. As a result, some part of the abdominal cavity comes down through the inguinal canal. Some people face symptoms like abdominal pain, heaviness in the abdomen, etc. While some patients initially may not feel any symptoms. A hernia usually becomes more prominent while coughing, standing up, or lifting heavy objects, etc. The only treatment available for an inguinal hernia is surgery. No medicine can cure it.

Surgery usually is of two types, open and laparoscopic surgery. You can ask your surgeon about both of them as which is better in your case. The success rate is very high in this kind of surgery. So, I advise you to go for a planned surgery as soon as it is possible for you rather than following a myth that it can be cured by medicine.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For more queries, you can consult. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
