Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Around two years back, I had an MI. After recovery, I found difficulty in sleeping. So my cardiologist prescribed Alprax 0.5 mg. It solved the problem. Last month, my whole family and I were infected by COVID-19. The infection was mild, and we all recovered around 15 days back. Now I can sleep at around 10 PM (after taking Alprax), but I wake up at around 2 AM and cannot sleep again. I have read about PTSD, but I do not seem to have any symptoms. But I do get anxiety dreams (not related to corona). And I seem to have developed hypochondria (anxiety of getting MI again or other diseases). However, I have no issues related to income, family, etc. Kindly advise.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your situation. You may have an anxiety disorder. There is non-pharmacological management for it. Try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you.

1.You should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like a walk.

2.You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, sit in a comfortable position, and concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts. It will help you relax.

3.You should eat healthy home-cooked foods, avoid junk foods.

4.You must drink enough water.

5.You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you live away from your family.

6.You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, learning new skills or language or musical instruments.

7.You should take seven to eight hours of sleep daily.

8.You must avoid tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse.

9.Live your life, do not just spend it.

Be bold and confident.

Stop watching news related to COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) and do not discuss it with others. I can suggest you a tablet of Clonazepam 0.5 mg at night instead of Alprazolam. I hope you got your answer. Please, let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Your other suggestions have made me feel much better. But still, I have sleeping problems. Please send me the popular brand name of Clonazepam.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can take Zapir 0.5 mg (Clonazepam) or Clonotril 0.5 mg. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
