Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My grandfather has been diabetic for the past 15 years. He has type 1 diabetes. He has been taking insulin injections (human Mixtard, thrice a day). But recently, his values have been too high even after taking the injections regularly, so the doctor over here is suggesting increasing the dosage. Please suggest an alternative or a solution so that the insulin requirement can be dropped.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. However, this issue happens since there is increasing age—not to worry. Continue 40 units, as usual, three times a day. Add an injection of Actrapid (human insulin) 5 units three times a day and Mixtard (human insulin) depending on his sugar value; we can stop new insulin Actrapid in the future. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medicines with their consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
