Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female. A year back, I gave birth to my daughter, the next month, I got my period back, but the following month, I missed my period. After two months, I got my period back again and became regular for up to a year. Again, after a month, I missed my period, and at the end of the next month, I got my period back again. Two months back, I missed my period again, and now I am currently on a period. I am a breastfeeding mother until now, and my daughter is 2 years old. What is going on with me? Can you please enlighten me? After I gave birth until now, I got quickly irritated on something, and I cannot stop myself from eating and, my weight is doubled up now. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am sorry that you are going through all this. Pregnancy does give you a major change in hormones, so it takes time for your periods to regularize again. I want to know how was your cycle, and is it your first pregnancy? You should feed your child from the breast. Once you stop feeding, your hormones will also come back to the pre-pregnancy state, which will help decrease the troubles you are having right now. Handling a baby is not an easy job. Do you have somebody to help you with taking care of the baby? Or is it just you? Are you a working mother? Handling baby plus work can make you tired, leading to becoming irritable and not interested in doing anything. Suppose you forget things a lot; try to use a planner and manage the things on a daily basis, so you know what you are going to do the next day. It helps your mind relax, and also you will not get irritated if you forgot something. Everything will come back to normal. Do not be hard on yourself and give yourself time.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
