Hello doctor,
I am 24 years old woman. My weight is 209 lbs and height 5.4 feet. I have irregular periods, ovulation problem. I consulted a doctor, she says hormonal problem, I have not produced an ovum, so the ovulation has stopped.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your condition is known as PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease). It has the following features; ovarian follicles are not fully functional and they do not produce the adequate hormone. This disease also has insulin resistance (a hormone which decreases glucose by increasing its breakdown) which leads to an increase in weight of the patient. Your doctor might be giving you a course of oral contraceptive pills for irregular menses. You should focus on weight loss by a healthy diet and exercise. Your weight loss will increase insulin sensitivity in your body. Please think about marriage and pregnancy before 30 years because PCOD is commonly associated with infertility. Infertility has better results if diagnosed and treated at an earlier age.
