Hello doctor,
I did not get my periods since 60 days. I got my home pregnancy test negative but I am having back pain when I am about to sleep. Cramps in my stomach. Experiencing body cramps including fingers here and then especially left side of my body left leg left hand, etc. Before too, I have had irregular periods but now I am married 6 months ago. Everytime I have irregular periods I think of my pregnancy and getting disappointed. When I got spotting, I went to check for implantation bleeding but the test was negative and a month later I got my periods. I started taking medicines, but again I have missed my periods now. Please help.

Do not worry. Stress is a major cause for irregular periods. Anxiety and stress also bring down the possibility of pregnancy. Just to be sure repeat the urine test in the morning. Since your pregnancy test was negative all the symptoms are because of the absence of periods. Your complaints point towards PCOS. Have you done an abdominal scan? If not, do it. It will help you rule out or predict 75 % of the causes of your irregular periods. Since you are anxious to conceive get a full panel of tests including LH, FSH, fasting sugar, prolactin, testosterone, AMH, blood counts and day 2 estrogen. This will give you a complete idea. Thyroid and deranged blood sugar is just 2 of the causes of irregular periods. To carry out all these investigations, first we need to induce your period. This can be done by taking Meprate or Regestrone 10 mg twice daily for 5 days.
