Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23 year old married female. I have PCOD problem, and I have not taken any treatment yet. I did not get periods from the last three months. What medication should I take to get regular periods?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

First, you need to undergo investigations like an ultrasound of the pelvis, thyroid and prolactin profile. If you have already done the tests, then no need to repeat them. As you did not get periods for three months, get a urine pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy. If it is negative, you get tablets from the nearby gynecologist for withdrawal bleeding. As you are married, you can take oral contraceptive pills like Dronis 30 (Ethinylestradiol and Drospirenone) or Krimson 35 (Ethinylestradiol and Cyproterone) from day 2 or 3 of your period, this is to regularize your cycle, and it will give you contraceptive benefits too.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for replying. The pregnancy test was negative. Please suggest how and when to take those pills.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You need to go to a nearby gynecologist to get tablets for withdrawal bleeding. You cannot get them over-the-counter. After your periods start, you can start taking theoral contraceptive pills from day 2 or 3. Once you finish the packet, wait for the periods and again start a new packet of OCP.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What should I do to get periods? Can you please suggest any pills?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest taking tablets containing Medroxyprogesterone acetate 10 mg, which is not available over-the-counter. So, please consult your gynecologist. Try taking one tablet twice daily for five days. After finishing the tablets, you will get periods after 7 to 10 days, and then you can start taking the OCP.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Can you please tell me the name of the pills containing Medroxyprogesterone acetate 10 mg? Should it be taken for five days? Sorry, I live in a village, and I should ask someone to get me those pills.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is available as tablet Deviry 10 mg or tablet Meprate 10 mg. But, please consult your doctor before taking them.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
