This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a diabetic patient suffering from acne since a very young age. I am currently taking Isotroin 20 milligrams and have observed good results with the medicine. For how many days should I continue the medicine?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for your query.

Isotretinoin (Retinoic acid) is a good drug for severe acne. You need to take it up to a total of 120 milligrams per two ounces body weight. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Monitor your blood lipid profile every two months.

2. Do not take any other drugs with it before consulting a doctor.

3. Do not give it to a female as it is teratogenic and will harm the fetus inside the womb.

4. Use a lip guard to counter the dryness of lips.

5. You need to take the medicine daily.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
