Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 40-year-old female. The lymph node behind my ear became inflamed and infected before six months. I thought it was caused by an insect bite. I was prescribed antibiotics and the inflammation went down. I can still feel the lymph node there but it is not inflammed. I can also feel the one near my collar bone, near the front of my neck, and groin. I have also had extremely itchy, burning skin all over, and rashes that look like scales that come and go in random places like my neck, groin, lower legs, creases in arms, etc. The itching never fully goes away and gets worse at night. I have also lost 20 pounds in the last six weeks without changing my diet or exercising. I need to lose weight anyway, but it is weird. I am chronically anemic due to heavy periods. Although my Hb is usually low, my platelets are usually within normal range. My latest platelets are rather high.

My current medications are Adderall XR, Trazodone, Atarax, Cetirizine, and Triamcinolone.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems you got some skin eruption such as allergy, psoriasis, or something like that. Get FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) or excision biopsy of one of the largest lymph nodes. Also, get tests of serum protein electrophoresis, serum IgE, and skin biopsy. And upload pictures of your skin lesion.

Your heavy bleeding is possible due to iron deficiency. Take injectable iron at 1500 mg once in two to three weeks and then shift to oral iron preparation. Iron must be taken at least 20 minutes before meals for better recovery and absorption. Iron deficiency also causes anemia.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
