Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am taking the capsule Itraconazole 200 mg twice a day for eight days. I have coped with a fungal infection but I still feel a little is left. How long should I continue it?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

May I ask you what kind of fungal infection are you talking about and which area of the body is involved? The capsule Itraconazole needs to be taken for a minimum of 15 days in most of the cases, or for a longer duration in a few. Are you applying the cream as well? I would be able to tell better by looking at the pictures and would suggest precautionary measures accordingly.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

The fungal infection was basically like ringworm and it was in the middle of my eyebrows. After taking medicine for eight days, the redness and itching have stopped and I am feeling better but little itching is left and itching occurs when subjected to sweat. Yes, I am using Clotrimazole powder and Luliconazole cream.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are taking the correct treatment for fungal infection. Such infections can be completely treated without recurrence only when proper precautions are followed. This part is very important. Continue the tablet Itraconazole (antifungal) 200 mg twice a day for seven more days. While applying Luliconazole cream, apply it to the area inside the ring and also a layer outside the ring. This will prevent the ring and the fungal infection from spreading. Take precautions such as avoid repeated touching of area. Wash your hands after touching the area or applying the cream. Keep your towels, soaps, handkerchiefs, and helmets separate from that of your family members. Wash these thoroughly every day. If anyone in your family develops the infection, seek immediate treatment to prevent further spread. Do not discontinue the medications on your own. This kind of infection leads to recurrence which becomes very difficult to treat. Follow up again after seven days. I will look into if there is further improvement or not and will suggest changes in your treatment plan accordingly.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is good to know that you are improving. Itraconazole needs to be taken for 2 to 4 weeks. I can add another ointment for speeding up recovery. However, I will be able to suggest better with photographs.

Hope it helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

When should I consume Itraconazole tablet and which cream to apply for speedy recovery?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am happy to know that you are following my treatment. Patience and continuous treatment is the most important to get rid of fungal infection.

I am suggesting the following medications,

1. Capsule Itraconazole 200 mg has to be taken two times a day, after lunch and after dinner.

2. Take a tablet for itching, Levocetrizine (antiallergic) 5 mg tablet at night after food for 5 days.

3. Apply Luliconazole (antifungal) cream in the morning after bath. Apply these creams as I have explained before.

Kindly consult a specialsit, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Use plain and dry tissue papers to wipe the sweat on forehead. Avoid using same handkerchief again and again on same area as it can lead to spreading of fungal infection. Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
