Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had hernia and lumbar arthritis pain four years back, took medication, and did not have any pain for a long time. I also get high uric acid twice or thrice a year. I will take Allopurinol, and get relief from joint pain, usually on my feet, within two days. Now I got a pain in my right hip. It is not severe pain, but it is mild. I worked on a laptop by sitting in the wrong chair. Maybe that is the cause. I felt mild numbness that extends to my right leg. I cannot go to a doctor because of long waiting times. I just want to make sure it is not a kidney stone issue. Also I want to know how to talk to a doctor, so I can get checked for kidney stones.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

A kidney stone pain does not happen in the hip. Instead, the pain usually starts in your loins, the side of your back, and radiates towards the front and the testicles. You will also generally tend to have urinary symptoms like burning sensations and dysuria. Kidney stone pain is usually dull and aching but gets colicky if the stone is in the ureter. It is good to ask your doctor for an ultrasound and CT (computerized tomography) scan. CT scans can pick up stones better if they are of a small size. Also, kindly keep drinking 2.5 to 3 liters of water.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
