Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a student pursuing a degree. I cannot concentrate on my studies and had a breakup recently. Nowadays, I cannot focus on things. I spend most of my time using my mobile, and my exams are in three days, and still, I cannot concentrate on my studies. I love someone, but she is not interested in love. Whenever I think about her, I feel alone, and I have stopped interacting with people and living alone most of the time. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your situation.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. Following are my suggestions:

  • You must move on in your life. Delete all stuff related to her memory.
  • Stop stalking her on social media. Limit the use of mobile.
  • Keep yourself active and busy. Do not stay alone.
  • Concentrate on your exam. Do not waste time on her.
  • Take the help of a friend for exam preparation.
  • Exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk after the exam.
  • You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts. Just let it be. It will increase your concentration.
  • You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.
  • Drink enough water.
  • Spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family.
  • Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  • Sleep enough for seven to eight hours daily.
  • Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  • Live your life. Please do not waste your life on someone else who does not care for you.
  • Find a purpose to live your life.
  • Concentrate on your career.
  • You will get much better than her if you are successful in your life.
  • Be bold and confident.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please, let me know if you want some help.

Thanks and regards.
