When the gastric acids or juices travel up through the esophagus and larynx, and pharynx, it is known as laryngopharyngeal reflux. It does not exhibit similar symptoms of acid reflux, and hence it is known as silent reflux. Symptoms include hoarseness of voice, urge to clear throat, cough, feeling of something stuck in the throat, and irritation to the larynx.
