Hello doctor,
I am a 32 year old male having a normal health condition. My height is 5 feet 6 inches, and weight is 58 Kg. Recently (yesterday), I noticed chest pain in the left side which feels like pinpointed pain (electric shock kind) and lasted for a few seconds. Please let me know what I need to do as it is the first time I have faced such a symptom.
Previously, I had once felt once the same pain (before 30 days), but it was very mild. I read on the internet that, it is due to the gas problem, but I am not sure. Please advise on the same.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. Most common causes of such chest pain are:
1. Muscular pain Costochondritis.
2. Chest pain due to heart issues.
3. Acid peptic disease.
We cannot afford to miss cardiac reason for chest pain, so we always advise to get an ECG and chest x-ray done. This will give an idea if the pain is cardiac in nature or not.
If you have recurrent episodes of acidity, get upper GI endoscopy and ultrasound abdomen done.
For acid reflux, I would advise you to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once a day.
For muscular chest pain , do hot fomentation of the affected area and apply Diclofenac ointment locally.
Avoid smoking and alcohol.
Avoid hot and spicy food.
