Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 28 years old. I had unprotected sex twice last month. After that, I took the Unwanted-72 pill both days with a gap of two days. Now I have problems with my period. The bleeding is lighter and lasts only for one or two days. I have this problem for two months. What can I do now?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Do not worry. As the Unwanted-72 pill (Levonorgestrel) has hormones, these mess with the hormonal balance in your body. This causes side effects like bleeding, spotting, irregular period, and also may cause delayed periods, nausea, and vomiting. As you have taken two pills in a close interval, the side effects will be more. This hormonal imbalance takes two to three period cycles to get corrected and come back to normal. So there is nothing much to do about it, and it will get back to normal on its own. During this period, do not take any more Unwanted-72 pill, instead use other forms of contraception. I hope this was useful.

Regards.
