Patient's Query

Hello doctor

My baby is nine days old. He is having loose motion, and his stool is thin. I have given him Enterogermina suspension once but he has got loose motion six times in seven hours. Should I give him milk or not and what to do in such a condition?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like this is your first child. Normally children below the age of six months pass stools up to 10 to 15 times a day or once in two days. Kindly do not mention these as loose motions. It is a normal phenomenon and will not go away with any medicines. All you need to see is if the child has lethargy, refusal to feed, dehydration, excessive vomiting without passing any stools, convulsion, or documented fever. These conditions warrant further evaluation and mostly admission to the hospital. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
