Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby girl is 2 months old and has been suffering from loose motions for the last three days after having constipation for four days. Yesterday we consulted the doctor, who prescribed Enterogermina for three days, twice daily. We started using it yesterday on our child, but we found no improvement in her condition. The stools are still like water. She gets loose motions while I am nursing her. Please let me know whether her condition will improve with the prescribed medicine. I am worried.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Please give medications some time to act. Complete a full five-day course and observe. If there is no improvement, antiacid medications may need to be started temporarily.

Also, please note that in children below the age of six months, passing stools 10 to 15 times per day is not called loose motion. It is normal for these kids. No intervention is usually required unless there is a perianal rash or failure to gain weight.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
