Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am having some chest pain and breathlessness with light activity. I went to the doctor and they did some tests. I have got the results back but do not have an appointment until next month. Could you look over my reports?

Last year, I had anemia due to heavy periods. My periods are still irregular. I also was diagnosed with hypothyroidism around five years back and costochondritis around ten years back.

I am taking the tablet Levothyroxine 25 mcg, the capsule Omeprazole 20 mg, Vitamin D tablet, the tablet Venlafaxine 300 mg, the tablet Bupropion hydrochloride 100 mg, the capsule Ferrous sulfate, the tablet Ibuprofen, and the tablet Hydroxyzine.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the reports you have attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

You are having low iron and low hemoglobin level.

This can be the reason for your symptoms.

Your WBC (white blood cell) count is also slightly high. This suggests infection.

Any fever?

Any supplements you are taking?

Please reply to me with answers to the above-asked questions so that I can guide you better.

Wish you good health.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am not taking any supplements and there is no fever. When I went to the emergency room, my WBC count was 11,500 per microliter of blood and a week later, it is now at 13,000 per microliter of blood. This is what I was worried about. Also noticed my platelets and CO2 levels are raised. Could this be something bad like cancer? I am very concerned. Also, are my thyroid levels fine? I occasionally get itchy all over, and excessive sweating at night as well for a year. Sometimes there is leg pain and hand tremors. Not sure if these have anything to do with it. Also, I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy done around four months back and they were normal.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In my opinion, we should definitely start iron supplements.

And there is no need to worry about a slightly high WBC (white blood cells) count as you do not have a fever.

Thyroid levels are near normal.

What dose of thyroid medicine are you taking?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
