Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old and married. I have lost my libido due to antidepressant side effects. I have stopped those medicine from getting back my libido. I have tried Bupropion, but it did not work for me. How much time will it take to get a normal sex drive? Is there any medicine to get back the libido? Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Loss of libido t is also one of the symptoms of depression. Antidepressants cause delayed ejaculation and rarely decrease your libido. If you are taking any antipsychotic, then it may suppress your libido. There are lots of reasons to decrease your libido. The most common cause is overweight or high BMI. If you still think it is due to your antidepressants, then you can try Cyproheptadine medication. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. It is used for the treatment of sexual dysfunction due to antidepressants. You should also change your lifestyle. Daily exercise for 30 to 45 minutes, meditate for 20 minutes, avoid junk food, eat healthy home-cooked food, and stay away from alcohol and smoking. Lose your weight. Take enough sleep. Make your sexual life interesting. Talk about your likes and dislikes with your partner freely. Do not be overstressed. Take a break in life. Life is about living, do not just spend it. Spend quality time with your partner. Make her happy, and ask her likes and dislikes about sexual relations. Get your serum thyroid (TSH) and serum prolactin blood level tested.

Thank you
